It absolutely poured down at Relay For Life this year. A storm whipped through just before we arrived and the stage crew were squeegeeing off the stage during the previous band’s performance. It was touch and go whether the entertainment would continue as the rain kept pouring and the wind blew over tents.
We got the all clear to go ahead and the sun broke through just as we started our set. The youngsters from Middle Districts Lions’ Club really got into the set we’d put together and made the paper with their awesome dance moves.
We got totally soaked along with the rest of the crowd at Relay, but was anyone miserable in the weather? Not a chance. The track was full of determined and focused people fighting back against cancer regardless of the mud and the rain. It takes more than a little water to dampen the spirit of this day.
